The 4th Annual Wine, Women & Shoes Presented by Sergio Rossi Raises More Than $600,000 to Benefit Miami Children’s Health Foundation

More than 600 of Miami’s most philanthropic and fashion-forward ladies gathered to celebrate the 4th Annual Wine, Women & Shoes (WW&S) presented by Sergio Rossi, benefiting the children and families at Miami Children’s Hospital. The sold-out event took place on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at the JW Marriott Marquis Miami and raised more than $600,000 for Miami Children’s Hospital.

“We were very excited to host Wine, Women & Shoes for the fourth year in a row,” said Lucy Morillo, president & CEO, Miami Children’s Health Foundation. “It was a fun-filled afternoon where 600 of our closest lady friends came together to indulge in fashion, lunch and wine with the common interest of supporting world-class pediatric healthcare at Miami Children’s Hospital. This amazing group of ladies allowed us to come together for the children and continue reaching our goal for our Together For The Children Campaign and for the future.”

Created for women who enjoy fine wine, great style, and supporting a noble cause, WW&S is one of the fastest-growing charity luncheon series in the country. The popular national fundraising event platform has been a big hit in South Florida, and last year, WW&S helped Miami Children’s Hospital raise almost half a million dollars in a single afternoon with nearly 500 fashionable women of South Florida in attendance.

An element added to the program this year, for the first time ever, was the Key to the Closet initiative, which was an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a fabulous lady to unlock the chance to win a year’s worth of Sergio Rossi shoes. The winner, Rosana Gorrin, will receive a $1,000 gift certificate every month, for 12 months, to the Sergio Rossi Bal Harbour boutique. Sergio Rossi, renowned for its craftsmanship and feminine designs, presented the 2015 WW&S event.

The “Shoe Guys” were also a fun part of the program, literally showcasing the latest women’s fashions on silver platters. Also, the glamorous Lisa Petrillo, CBS 4 Emmy Award-winning entertainment reporter, proudly served as this year’s Master of Ceremonies.

“We are so grateful for the tremendous generosity of the women in South Florida, as well as our committee members, who helped make this such a successful event,” said Event Co-chairs, Criselda Breene and Carola Pimentel.  “Because of the support of our community we have become the highest Wine, Women & Shoes revenue-making event in the country.”

But the highlight of the luncheon was the uplifting story of Miami Children’s Hospital patient, Gracie. Her mom, Karin Penkala was in attendance and shared with the audience their experience of how they selected Miami Children’s Hospital and our team of dedicated physicians to entrust with their daughter’s life. Gracie was diagnosed with Down’s syndrome and a congenital heart condition prior to her birth, which required complex surgery. The family is very grateful to Miami Children’s for saving Gracie’s life, and they have become advocates of the hospital, especially in Palm Beach, where they live. Gracie’s story will be highlighted by the foundation in March as part of its Patient of the Month initiative.

Guests were treated to a sophisticated day of wine tasting, a silent auction featuring one-of-a-kind items, a delicious lunch, as well as a fashion show with featured items from Neiman Marcus Coral Gables. Additionally, guests in attendance were able to shop the exclusive marketplace featuring Ana Mari Ortega, Artesano, Cudesso, Dennis Basso, Eberjey, En Avance, Lostmarc’h, Monisha Melwani Jewelry, Neiman Marcus Coral Gables, Purificación García, Sergio Rossi, and Sirissima/Clement Willoch.
