The cross-over television and movie actress to help support the fundraising and awareness initiatives for Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and the foundation

MIAMI, March 29, 2016 – Miami Children’s Health Foundation is excited to announce that Telemundo breakthrough actress, Ximena Duque, will be recognized as a Global Ambassador for the foundation, which is the fundraising arm of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. Duque will help bring awareness to the medical research and breakthroughs done at the hospital and its efforts to help bring these discoveries to children not just in U.S., but Latin America and around the world.

“I am so excited and honored to be able to join such a wonderful organization like Miami Children’s Health Foundation and help raise awareness so that all of our children can have access to the best medical care right here in South Florida,” Duque said.  “I look forward to coming back and volunteering in many of the departments I had a chance to visit, and to spend time with the families.”

During a recent visit to the hospital this February, Duque was able to meet some of the patients receiving treatment and had the opportunity to listen to their experiences and how their families are benefiting from being treated at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital.

“It was wonderful to have Ximena learn about our international programs and how we are helping treat children beyond our borders,” said Lucy Morillo, president and CEO of Miami Children’s Health Foundation. “During her visit she immediately bonded with our patients and could see how our hospital is making every stride to make their stay as comfortable as possible.”

The Colombian-born actress began her acting career in 2006 with a starring role on Telemundo’s hit television series “Decisiones,” which aired in the U.S. and Latin America.  She then joined the cast of the Telemundo novela “Pecados Ajenos.” She was widely recognized for her current role in the popular television series “Dueños del Paraíso” (Owners of Paradise) on Telemundo, starring Kate del Castillo. Most recently, she was asked to guest star in future May episodes of the NBC daytime soap “Days of Our Lives.”
