CHRONICALLY ILL TEEN PATIENTS CELEBRATED PROM NIGHT AT NICKLAUS CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL THANKS TO DONATION FROM THE CARLIN FAMILY

MIAMI – MAY 22, 2017 – This past weekend, over a 100 chronically ill patients and their guests enjoyed a magical night at the 4th Annual Carlin Family Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Prom thanks to the generosity of Adam and Chanin Carlin. Current and recently hospitalized teen patients danced the night away in a “Rustic Country” themed party, complete with a red carpet to show off their stylish looks.

The prom experience included beautiful dresses and stylish suits for patients, as well as hair and make-up sessions with professional stylists, and a pre-party event for participating families at the Nicklaus Children’s Michael Fux Family Center before the main event. Parents also enjoyed a night off at a special reception where they were able to watch the festivities via live stream.

“Seeing the happiness and excitement on each of the patients’ faces was priceless,” said Adam Carlin. “Knowing that they were able to forget even for a moment about their illnesses and treatments was truly magical. We are so happy to play a role in creating memories for the patients at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and to celebrate with them an unforgettable night.”

“Our foundation is very thankful to have the generosity of the Carlin family, who has seen how special this event is for our chronically ill patients. Their financial commitment to the Carlin Prom will allow our patients to continue to enjoy this wonderful rite of passage next year as well,” said Tim Birkenstock, interim president and CEO, Miami Children’s Health Foundation.

Carlin family’s vision and generosity brought this event to life in 2014, since then many local sponsors and vendors have taken on the mission of giving these young patients a night they would otherwise not be able to experience due to their medical illness.

MCH Foundation also received overwhelming support from local businesses who donated their time and services. Volunteers, including nurses, doctors, social workers and Child Life Specialists made this prom a success. Other sponsors included Bird Bowl, Cupcake World, Kendall Ice Arena, LiveWell Chiropractic, Miami Marlins, Mary Kay Cosmetics, The Salty Donut, Sugarman Candy, Event Depot, Chef David Schwadron, DJ Vertigo, DJ Eugene, Men’s Designers Outlet, Passion Growers, TentLogix, Hair Stylists Mimi & Manda, Danny Jelaca, SoBe Promos, Sephora Shops at Merrick Park, The Glass Oven, IMG, Michael’s, Dresses Four Me, Tee Shirt Central, and WOW Factor Marketing Group.
