MIAMI, FL (November 16, 2017) – It was a delicious day at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital as popular, Miami-based establishment, The Salty Donut, paid a visit to hold a “Decorating the Donuts” contest for kids receiving treatment at the hospital. The tasty event took place Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at the Advance Pediatric Care Pavilion on the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital campus.

Amanda Pizarro, co-founder of The Salty Donut, brought a selection of their famous treats for patients to decorate. In the end, Nicklaus Children’s patient, AJ came up with the most creative masterpiece. AJ’s “Holiday Explosion” winning donut will now be sold at The Salty Donut shop in Wynwood from December 19 - 24, with a portion proceeds going to benefit the hospital.

The Salty Donut is an Artisanal Donut Shop & Coffee Bar focused on chef-made, small-batch craft donuts using only the highest quality ingredients. Everything in the shop is made in-house. The Coffee Bar features rotating coffees, with interesting flavor profiles crafted by some of the best baristas around. The craft donut phenomenon has been growing around the country for the past few years, but The Salty Donut is one of the first establishments of its kind in Miami. The owners traveled around the US to find the best recipes to create a donut shop that is not only the best in Miami, but also the entire nation.
