Miami, Florida October 4, 2017- Kohl’s Department Stores today announced the donation of $530,000 to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital to help promote healthy lifestyles across communities in South Florida. The two-year grant, awarded through Kohl’s Cares®, the company’s philanthropic platform, will support the Hospital’s #GiveMe5 program, which aims to raise awareness on the importance of eating at least five fruits and vegetables a day.

The program, led by Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Food and Nutrition department, will bring its mobile farmer’s market into local neighborhoods and schools offering fresh vegetables and healthy recipes for the whole family to enjoy.

“Thanks to our continuing partnership with Kohl’s, thousands of children in South Florida have already benefited from Kohl’s Cares® support to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital community programs,” said Tim Birkenstock, Interim President and CEO of Miami Children's Health Foundation, the fundraising arm of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. “Through this new grant, hundreds more will have the opportunity to have free access to nutritional information that will empower parents to ensure that their children remain healthy.”
