MIAMI (December 7, 2017)– The third floor of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital’s Advanced Pediatric Care Pavilion (APCP) will bear the name of Carlos Arboleya, Jr. and Marta Arboleya, the late son and wife of retired prominent South Florida banker, Carlos Arboleya. The naming was made in honor of a $1 million gift Arboleya and his wife made in memory of their son. After his wife’s passing earlier this year, Arboleya included her in the tribute as well.

“They both had great love for children in their heart,” Arboleya said. “That’s why we decided to honor their memory in this way.”

Arboleya chose to name the third floor of the APCP because it houses the hospital’s pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), where children with the greatest medical needs are treated. The new name was unveiled in a ceremony attended by representatives of the organization, including CEO of Nicklaus Children’s Health System, Dr. Narendra Kini, who spoke about the impact of philanthropy during the program.

“It is thanks to supporters like Mr. Arboleya that Nicklaus Children’s is able to offer world-class care to children here and around the world,” Dr. Kini said. “We are honored that he chose to commemorate his wife and son by making a difference in the lives of our patients and families.”

Carlos Arboleya has received many national and international recognitions for his decades of service to the community. His support for Nicklaus Children’s goes back many years, as he was once a member of the Board of Directors for the foundation when it was still named the Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation.
