The Cancer Center at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital
The Cancer Center provides care for more pediatric cancer patients than any other facility in Florida, is nationally recognized, ranking higher than any program in the state, and offers among the best outcomes in the country. According to the National Cancer Institute, cancer is the leading cause of death by disease among U.S. children ages 1 to 14. No child should die from cancer and chemo and children should not go together. We provide children the most advanced and comprehensive treatment of childhood cancers to renew their health and restore hope. Our goal is to take charge in the battle against cancer with fresh approaches and innovative genetic-based treatments.
All advancements in curing childhood cancer have come through research. The Cancer Center is currently carrying out more than 100 Phase I, II, and III active clinical trials, enrolling approximately 5,000 patients annually and with over 70,000 patients in active follow up. Our objective is to expand research with the aim of stopping cancer in its track, develop effective therapies with limited side effects during and after treatment, and ultimately find cures.
