COMMUNITY CELEBRATES THE GIFT OF GIVING
AT 12TH ANNUAL HUGS & KISSES CHILDREN’S FASHION SHOW
BENEFITING MIAMI CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL FOUNDATION


MIAMI  – More than 175 children, parents and grandparents came together on May 1 to Celebrate the Gift of Giving at the 12th Annual Hugs & Kisses Children’s Fashion Show.

Models ranging in age from infants to 13 years old rocked the H&K web 1.jpgrunway in the hottest fashions, courtesy of GAP Kids. Held at The Ritz-Carlton South Beach, the event was emceed by Octavio Campos, Performance Artist and Director of Camposition. Attendees enjoyed a performance by Live! Modern School of Music kids band.

Among the honored guests was business and community leader J. David Scheiner who was presented with the inaugural Thank You For Making A Difference Award which recognizes community activists who set a lifelong positive example for children.

H&K web 3.jpgCBS4 News Anchor Shannon Hori introduced Scheiner and shared her family’s personal experience with Miami Children’s Hospital, where her 2-year-old son Colt, who was born with a congenital heart defect and cleft palate, receives medical care.

“We are so grateful to our doctors, nurses and therapists at Miami Children's Hospital because we know without them we would not be here today,” said Hori. “We are happy to do anything we can to support them.”

The event also showcased the 4th Annual I Make A Difference Awards, sponsored by Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, honoring outstanding student philanthropists who have made a significant positive impact in the lives of others.

Lefkowitz (Palmetto Bay), Gulliver Preparatory School; Rafael Llaneza (Coral Gables), Saint Theresa School; Mandy P. Louis-Jacques (Pembroke Pines), Miami Country Day School; Manuel Andres Macias (Miami), Christopher Columbus High School; Cameron McDonough (Miami), Palmer Trinity School; Kevin Porras (Hialeah), Monsignor Edward Pace High School; and Benjamin Rose (Golden Beach), the Ben Lipson Hillel Community High School.

Other sponsors included CBS4, Misha’s Cupcakes, Premier Beverage, USA Parking, The Ritz-Carlton South Beach, Nancy Bernstein, Ravneet Chowdhury, the Diaz-Arrastia family, Barbara Havenick, DJ Kerr and Flavia Lowenstein.
