Congenital Heart Defect Nathan was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, which means half of his tiny heart was severely underdeveloped. Within hours of his birth, Nathan was flown to Miami Children’s. He had his first open-heart surgery when he was a week old, his second four months later and his final operation at the age of 4.
Thanks to the Miami Children’s Cardiac Institute, Nathan has developed normally and is a proud graduate of pre-kindergarten.
He even gets to travel the world with his older brother Ethan whose piano act has landed him on national shows like Oprah and Ellen. Ethan and Nathan are big supporters of Miami Children’s Hospital and recently completed a tour to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals®, of which Miami Children’s
is a partner.
