FIU Students Receive National Award for Supporting Children's Miracle Network Hospitals^® Program at Miami Children's Hospital
Congratulations to the members of Future Business Leaders of America at Florida International University who hosted a successful "Tribute to Children" Week and Children's Miracle Gala earlier this year and raised $1,300 for Children's Miracle Network Program at Miami Children's Hospital Foundation. The group recently won first place for presenting this project at the national competition. The following letter below is from Megan Lee, Vice President of Community Service for FIU's FBLA organization to Maria Moldes, Director of Children's Miracle Network and Corporate Relations for Miami Children's Hospital Foundation.

Ms. Moldes,

On behalf of the Future Business Leaders of America - Phi Beta Lambda Chapter at FIU, I would like to thank you and the Children's Miracle Network at Miami Children's Hospital once again for your support towards our project back in February. As you witnessed firsthand with your attendance, we were able to host a successful "Tribute to Children" Week and Children's Miracle Gala.

Because of your support towards our philanthropy project this past year, our Community Service Team was extremely dedicated to the cause, not just because it was our project but because we were Tributing Children, which touched our hearts throughout our entire week of events and continues to this day. Through a 30-page report and presentation in which our team took countless hours to write and perfect, we took our project all the way to State Competitions (placing 1st in the State) and most recently National Competitions where we placed 1st in the Nation! Attached you will find a picture of our winning team.

Not enough words can express the utmost gratitude that I have for you and the Children's Miracle Network at Miami Children's Hospital for your dedication and support towards our philanthropy this past year.

Discover Card has joined the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals team and will be issuing Discover's first-ever co-branded charity card. For every card member who makes $500 in purchases within six months of being approved for a new Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Discover Card, Discover will make a $100 donation to Children's Miracle Network. Card members can earn unlimited rewards on all purchases, including a 2% cash back bonus on each donation they make to Children's Miracle Network using their co-branded Discover Card within the first year. Additionally, they will earn 5% cash back all year long in such categories as travel, gas, groceries, restaurants and more. Card members are also able to donate all of their rewards back to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals if desired. IHOP “National Pancake Day”
IHOP Restaurants hosted their annual “National Pancake Day”. Guests were invited to enjoy a free short stack of pancakes and make a donation to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. More than 2.5 million pancakes were given out that day nationwide – a stack that would reach 18 miles high! Locations also sold “miracle” balloons leading up to National Pancake Day. Restaurants in Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe Counties raised over $22,782 for Miami Children's Hospital. Thank you to Janet Alexander and the entire IHOP team for another successful campaign.
