Founded in 1950, by Variety Clubs International, Miami Children’s Hospital (MCH) is the only licensed specialty hospital for children in South Florida. MCH offers medical care and services for children from birth to age 21, through the more than 600 attending physicians and over 130 pediatric sub-specialists. The 275-bed Hospital is renowned for excellence in all aspects of pediatric medicine and is ranked by Child magazine among the best children’s hospitals in the nation. U.S. News & World Report has consistently ranked MCH one of the top pediatric hospitals in the country and recently listed the Hospital as the only pediatric hospital in the top 30 in the state of Florida. Over the years, Miami Children’s Hospital has established itself as a world leader in medical education and is home to the largest pediatric teaching program in the southeastern United States.
MCH is the only, and largest, pediatric trauma center in Miami-Dade and one of two licensed in the state of Florida. With the highest surgical cardiology survival rate of any pediatric hospital in the U.S., MCH also has the largest children’s cancer center in the country. Over 2400 employees work in the main campus as well as the three satellite facilities in Weston, South Dade and Miami Lakes. Two new facilities are scheduled to open in 2008 in Doral and West Kendall.
MCH has also been designated an American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet facility, the nursing profession’s most prestigious institutional honor. The focus at MCH has always been and continues to be on advancements in pediatric medicine.
