MIAMI CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL FOUNDATION RECEIVES GIFT OF $2.7 MILLIION DOLLARS

MCHF Receives Gift from Local Resident’s Estate

Miami, February XXX - Miami Children's Hospital Foundation recently received $2.7 million dollars from a very generous local resident. "The most wasted day of all is that which you have not laughed" was the favorite saying of this gracious lady, a proud native of Bloomington, MN who remembered the Foundation and Miami Children's Hospital in her estate thanks to the guidance and friendship of her professional advisors Eugene Sulzberger and Eric Sulzberger as well as under the watchful eye of the Founder of the Foundation, Ambassador David M. Walters.

"Our relationship with this generous patron and her family began many years ago with my father’s position as their professional advisor during which time he made the suggestion that she may want to consider the Foundation as a recipient of a financial remembrance in her estate planning," remembers Eric Sulzberger, Eugene’s son and member of the Board of Directors of Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation. "My father and Ambassador Walters played key roles in this thoughtful lady’s decision to share her and her husband’s good fortune with Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation. Her gift of laughter was one of the most ingratiating things about this highly accomplished woman who was a much beloved sister and adored wife."

The Foundation, whose sole mission is to generate funds for Miami Children’s Hospital, believes that children’s health is the single most important concern and that all children are precious "diamonds" as it refers to the Hospital as the "Diamond of the South". Donations are made to the Foundation many ways and include both financial support as well as volunteer time. Much appreciated are those contributions received as a result of having keen supporters such as the Sulzbergers and gracious donors like their client.

"We are so thankful to this very generous and private woman and to the Sulzbergers for their long-term commitment to helping our Foundation and Hospital grow," says Meschelle Huether, Vice President of Estate and Gift Planning. "The Sulzbergers and indeed Ambassador Walters were instrumental in our benefiting from the bequest from this kind woman and I agree with her philosophy that ‘the most wasted day of all is that which you have not laughed’; we smile at the thought of her generosity. We are also extremely grateful to Eric for his on-going support in helping make our Foundation a charity of choice for his clients and his commitment through his service on our Board."
